Introducing ‘Mai Explains’ - Immediate feedback on errors from our AI-powered tutor!
Mai, Tassomai’s friendly AI-powered tutor, is currently available to students who get Tassomai through their school for 4 chats per week. Mai helps them to understand the question when they are struggling and Mai’s support on tricky questions is known as ‘Mai Helps’.
Having this virtual tutor within the Tassomai app has been a great help to thousands of students – you can read more about how Mai supports students here.
What’s new?
The Tassomai team has been working on a new way for Mai to support students: explaining where they went wrong when they answer questions incorrectly.
This new feature is called ‘Mai Explains’ and it’s now live if you log in to Tassomai via a browser. Note that if you’re using our iOS or Android app you may need to update to the latest version to see Mai Explains.
Students who get Tassomai through schools will have 2 ‘Mai Explains’ credits and 2 ‘Mai Helps’ credits to use each week. Our private subscribers continue to have unlimited access to Mai as part of their subscription.
How will this new addition benefit students?
Studies show that students learn best when they have quick feedback loops within their learning, e.g. getting a question wrong and immediately learning why they made a mistake. Making feedback as quick as possible gives them the opportunity to learn from their errors and makes them more likely to remember the correct answer when asked again in the future.
The new ‘Mai Explains’ feature will give students a better understanding of where they went wrong on a question and how they can improve next time, reducing the lag time between their mistake and the next learning opportunity.
Using Mai as a support with tricky questions is also a great way for students to boost their confidence in their learning and fully understand a question.

Can students get more credits for Mai?
Parents whose children get Tassomai through their schools have the option to upgrade their child’s account to ‘Mai Unlimited’, which gives them unlimited credits for both ‘Mai Helps’ and ‘Mai Explains’. (We charge a small monthly subscription for this unlimited service because there’s a cost to Tassomai to provide it.)
If you’re a parent whose child gets Tassomai through school, you can give them this on-demand virtual support today by upgrading from the ‘Manage’ tab of your Parent Dashboard.
Note that if you’re a private subscribing family your subscription package will automatically include unlimited access to Mai Helps and Mai Explains.
