Why Parental Engagement is Key to Student Success
Parents are more engaged with their children’s learning than ever before, but there is still a lot that can be done to ensure parents are in the best possible position to support their child’s learning.
There are many benefits to involving parents with homework, revision and learning, including:
Improved academic performance
Research suggests that parental involvement in homework and revision can positively impact students' academic achievements. When parents are engaged and provide support, students are more likely to complete assignments, understand concepts better, and perform well in exams.
Enhanced motivation and self-discipline
Parents who actively participate in their child's education can help foster a sense of motivation and discipline. By setting expectations, providing encouragement, and establishing a structured study routine, parents can help students develop effective study habits and maintain focus.
Increased understanding of subject matter
When parents engage with their child's homework and revision, they gain a better understanding of the content and subject matter themselves. This enables them to provide more informed support and answer questions, leading to a deeper comprehension for the student.
Strengthened parent-child relationship
Engaging with a child's academic pursuits allows parents to spend quality time with their child, fostering a stronger bond. This involvement also signals to the child that education is important and that their parents care about their success.
Parental engagement with Tassomai
Parents can often feel overwhelmed with information about their child’s learning and not know where to start. Getting them involved with their child’s Tassomai progress is an easy and convenient way for them to gain an insight into their child’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as practical ways they can help, even if they are not experts in certain topics.
There’s even an app for parents!
Tassomai gives parents the opportunity to have more empowered discussions with teachers about their child’s academic progress. This makes for much more productive parents evenings and ensures both parties are up to date with the individual strengths and weaknesses of each student.
Transparency
The more parents hear about Tassomai from their schools, the more they will understand the ways in which it can help them to interact with their child’s learning. If they know how the platform works and the benefits it can have, then they are more likely to encourage their child to complete their Daily Goals and stay on top of their homework, which supports teachers in their implementation of the platform.
This two-pronged approach creates a wrap-around learning experience for students as the pillars of their two support systems are on the same page.
Parents are able to approach subjects that they don’t personally understand with more confidence when talking to both their child and teachers. This gives them the opportunity to be of greater support around crunch times in the academic year. For example, if a parent could see on their dashboard that their child was struggling with the themes of Macbeth, but didn’t know anything about the topic themselves, they could use the suggested resources from the dashboard to support their child’s learning (and maybe pick up some trivia for themselves along the way!).
Help us help you!
This level of interaction, insight and engagement with parents is only possible with school support, so we encourage you to reach out to your students’ parents with information on how Tassomai works and to set up Progress Reports so that parents receive automatic updates on their child’s progress.

This year Tassomai is looking to increase parental engagement in an effort to provide well-rounded support to all students using the platform. To help foster this engagement we have launched our free ‘Parent Club’ where parents can receive additional support, information and content.
